Are you a tropical researcher?

Expressions of interest are being sought from post-confirmation (2nd and 3rd year) PhD candidates in all disciplines to participate in the Tropical Research Network (TRN).

Formed in 2011, the TRN is an Australian initiative promoting collaborative research amongst a coalition of eight universities, focused on a research skills development program for PhD candidates with a tropical research interest. The Network currently boasts 47 members in diverse disciplinary areas.

In 2014, TRN are seeking two outstanding candidates from Griffith University to join the the Network. Selected candidates will be invited to the 2014 Network Conference in Cairns between 3-7 November. Participants will engage in workshops and lectures with an international network of tropical researchers. Conference participants will have conference travel, registration, and accommodation costs covered by Griffith. Beyond the conference, members will receive program benefits such as access to special webcasts, networking, and research collaboration opportunities.

Eligibility:

  1. Must be a recipient of an APA, IPRS or other Griffith University-funded research scholarship;
  2. Must be a Post-confirmation PhD candidate whose thesis is in the area(s) of:
  • Health and medicine in the tropics
  • Industries in the tropics
  • Tropical environments
  • Tropical life and living

Please submit your expressions of interest by email to ggrs-dean@griffith.edu.au by Wednesday 28 May, including your CV and a brief (maximum 300 words) statement addressing the reasons why you would like to be selected to become a TRN member. You will also need to include a brief statement of support from your principal supervisor (submitted as a Word document or scanned PDF copy).
