Gold Coast Hospital Tour for Health Services Management Students
Much of what we at GUPSA do for Griffith’s postgraduate students is done in small and low key ways through collaborating with other elements of Griffith University. Through these collaborations we can much better target and assist specific groups of postgraduate students.
One element GUPSA has collaborated with regularly over the last 3 years is Health Services Management at Southbank campus. They provide a popular, rapidly growing coursework Masters program, which draws increasing numbers of both domestic and international students. Since 2014, GUPSA has funded a range of different activities for coursework HSM students, which are intended to enhance both their Griffith experience and their professional development.
One recent such event we supported was a tour of the new, and state of the art, Gold Coast University Hospital, adjacent to Griffith’s Gold Coast campus, that took place 19 October. GUPSA hired a bus to take a group of 18 students on Work Integrated Learning from Southbank to the Hospital and back. GUPSA paid for the bus and also paid for their lunch as well, which was provided by Griffith Food in a room booked at the campus.
The day was a big success; all the students got a lot out of it, and enjoyed it too. One of them, Roshan Shaik made a video of the excursion, which we are proud to share here. We hope that coursework students in other Schools might be inspired by this to consider how GUPSA might be able to help you enhance the experience in your programs.
