Safety petition, please sign!

Brisbane resident Natasha Lewis Honeyman has launched a petition to Queensland Parliament to call for a comprehensive safety review in the wake of the murder of our fellow postgraduate student Sophie Collombet.

The petition requests the state government to, among other things, review police coverage, public path lighting, closed circuit television, evening public transport timetables and connections across suburbs in the inner city.

The petition also calls for greater provision of public safety information, support services and awareness raising programs for residents and visitors in collaboration with Brisbane City Council and universities and international colleges.

GUPSA wholeheartedly supports Natasha’s initiative. Please take a moment to sign the petition and help to make Brisbane a safer place.

Thank you for your collaboration!
