Writing Retreat

This full day writing retreat provides an opportunity to take a day out of your regular schedule and get away to a neutral place in a quiet and supportive environment where, free from distractions, we can commit ourselves wholeheartedly to writing. The goal is to assist HDR students, or other postgraduate students working on a significant research component as part of their program the opportunity to achieve their writing goals or get that step closer.

Library Learning Advisors will start off the day with advice and information and EnglishHELP tutors will be available for consultations throughout the day as you are given the opportunity to make the most of this precious writing time. GUPSA will fully cater this event, thus spaces are limited. If you register but can’t make it, kindly let us know so we can give your spot to someone else.

Objectives:

    • Make significant progress on draft versions of papers that will be prepared before the retreat.
    • Present an overview of the draft papers to small groups of students attending the retreat.
    • Enable HDR students to meet the university requirement of publishing articles during candidature.

Highlights:

    • GUPSA will provide morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. 
    • Activities will focus on individual writing time.
    • Supportive writing environment. 
    • Connect with peers.
