Kate Kingston
Disability Officer
As a severe-profoundly deaf woman, I am excited to take on the role of Disability Officer. I look forward to making the most of this wonderful opportunity to meet other post-graduates who have a disability. Please do communicate any issues or concerns so that I may assist you, or advocate on your behalf.
I am currently a PhD candidate in Environment and Sciences at Nathan campus. I have recently completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours 1) in 2021 and Bachelor of Environmental Science with Distinction in 2019, both at Griffith University. In my youth, I also completed a Communications and Fine Arts degrees before finding my passion in environmental science. I was recently awarded a Highly Commended Award at the 2021 QLD Women in STEM prize for my outstanding undergraduate academic success, research and community service as a deaf woman.
For the past five years, I have been engaged with the university in several roles including: Pass Mentee; BOAT Mentor, First Year Mentor and regularly employed as a Laboratory Demonstrator. Outside of university, I am active participant at my local Bushcare. I look forward to meeting you all!
