Upcoming events from GUPSA

28 Apr

It’s been around five weeks now where you elected the new GUPSA committee for this year! I would like to thank each one of you for putting your confidence on me becoming the President of GUPSA and on all those postgrad students who nominated for each position. We’ve already started engines to work for postgraduate students across South Bank, Mount Gravatt, Nathan, and Logan campuses.

First of all, I would like to thank Niels Kraaier, our previous President on 2013 and 2014, for all the excellent job he did for GUPSA. From being a small association to becoming one of the strongest organisations within Griffith University is one of his best achievements. On behalf of GUPSA, I wish him all the best on his next endeavours.

Talking about endeavours, we have been quite active on organising and planning events for postgrad students. You will hear about the yoga and meditation classes in Mount Gravatt soon, so check your Griffith email and our Facebook page for more information. We’ll also post much more about our services here, on our website.

It’s a family-friendly event where you can relax with a meditation class (for a gold coin donation, and all the collections will be donated to Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group), a BYO picnic, and the official commemorative ceremony starts at 4:45 pm. All postgrad students are welcome to join!

Also, we’ve been in communication with the Griffith Graduate Research School to collaborate in a big event involving HDR students later on this year. We’ll upload more information about this event when the day is getting closer. It’s going to be great!

And finally, for those of you who are asking about our social gatherings, write it down on your diaries: the next “Thank God It’s Friday” party will be on the 8 May at UniBar. Check out your Griffith email soon with more details about it! We cannot wait to see you there as well.

That’s about it for now, but keep an eye on this space as I’ll keep writing useful information for you. We’ll be offering more services as the time goes by, and we’ll keep you updated with them. It will be a busy and exciting year for GUPSA, and nothing is possible without your ongoing support.

See you around!
Eduardo.
