Queensland police minister Jack Dempsey responds to safety petition
Queensland police minister Jack Dempsey has responded to the recent petition for a comprehensive safety review safety review in the wake of the murder of our fellow postgraduate student Sophie Collombet.
Although it remains unclear whether the government will launch the desired review, the minister’s response suggests that the state authorities share our concerns.
In his reply, the minister lists a range of measures that have been taken in response to the murder of Sophie as well as other violent incidents.
Thank you Natasha Lewis Honeyman for initiating the petition and thank you all for signing. We will keep you posted as news comes to hand.
