Government: "HDR students will keep public transport concession."

Following on from our earlier post on this issue, GUPSA is happy to report that, in response to our concerns, the Queensland Government has revised its initial plans for the Tertiary Student Concession Card, which put at risk the eligibility of full-time HDR students for concession fares on public transport.

The government has decided that all students counted as full-time by their university will be eligible for the Tertiary Student Concession Card, dropping original plans to determine full time status by an hourly load per week.

All full-time students are required to have the Tertiary Student Concession Card to be eligible to receive public transport concessions from 3 March. The card is valid up to 12 months and must be renewed annually.

To get the card you need to download the application from from the Translink site, complete it and have it authorised by the university and then return it to Translink. The card will then be posted to you within 15 business days.

For more information and to get the application form click here.

Remember to get public transport concession fare after 3 March you must have the Tertiary Student Concession Card so get your application in now.
