The President’s Christmas Message

Dear allChristmas is a time of celebration but it’s also a time of reflection. Looking back at the past 12 months, I have no doubt that it has been a busy time for all of us. It certainly was for GUPSA.The year 2013 was all about rebuilding GUPSA and I’m really proud of what we have achieved so far.

I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to my wonderful committee:

  • Eduardo
  • Jason
  • Jonathan
  • Katrine
  • Lynden
  • Mahbuba
  • Min
  • Paul
  • Samad
  • Sarah
  • Tanvir
  • Zahir

And last but not least, a big thank you to our support officer, Michael Carden, who has done an absolutely outstanding job!As I said, the year 2013 was very busy for GUPSA. And I have to add, I’m delighted with the generosity the university has shown in passing on the funds that enable us to fulfil our role and responsibilities as your representative body. Our funding arrangements are a clear recognition of the important work GUPSA does. GUPSA is serious about providing the best possible postgraduate student experience, and so is the university.Soon, we will have a meeting with the university to discuss our budget for 2014 and I’m confident that we’ll receive the green light go full steam ahead with our plans for the year to come. The year 2013 may have been busy, 2014 is going to be even busier. It’s going to be fantastic. So stay tuned for updates!Let me conclude by thanking you for your enthusiasm and support. It’s an honour to serve you. I look forward to seeing you all next year.I wish you a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2014!Niels Kraaier
