Wenx’ World: Travel Bugs
It’s pure anticipation: My travel bugs are out, loose and plenty. My planned holidays are coming up faster and faster and by now, I cannot wait.
Just a few years ago, I was travelling loads. I was restless wherever I’d be, happy to live with my 11 kg (including running gear, of course) bag. But I got to a point, in a city with the fabulous name Huehuetenango, where I didn’t wanna travel anymore. All I wanted was a home, a living plant and lasting friends. I thought I had successfully eradicated my travel bugs – and settled down in Australia.
Turns out, those bugs were just hibernating. More and more travels followed and right now I am soon leaving again – and I am getting more and more excited every day!
Now, who am I going with? I’ll travel with myself. When I tell people, many react either with “Cool, I’ve always wanted to do that, but wouldn’t/couldn’t… [insert excuse here]” or “As a girl?!?” And I’m always surprised. After all it’s 2014: flights are affordable, credit cards functional and women sufficiently emancipated. I have been on many, even random, trips on my own and I just cannot decide whether I like it better or less than travelling with company. In fact, I believe that everyone should travel on their own at least once in their lives, whether it’s a weekend or years.
So, if you would excuse me now, I gotta do my washing to have some clothes to pack soon.
See you out there – Wenx
